If I decide to crochet this week, I
will be finishing up some projects that are still sitting there.
"Fantasm Shawl in Turmeric" is only like four rows from
done, but I can't get myself in gear to do them, so that's first on
my list to finish up.
Then I have a "Tessellating Pine
Cone Shawl in Fiesta Coffee" that I started a few days ago.
It's going well, and honestly, it's about half done (it's going that
well). I got all that done in one day, so it shouldn't take me much
longer to finish it if I can sit down and focus on crochet.
I have another shawl called "Skull
Shawl in Shaded Denim" that I have started and frogged several
times. I don't know if it's the pattern or if it's just me trying to
do a pattern with all my kids screaming in my ears and interrupting
my counting, but something isn't working out right.
And my last project that is sitting in
the queue that I have started in a "Crochet Linen Scarf in
Camouflage." I find that the Linen Stitch looks best with
Those are my plans for the week if I
decide to pick up my hooks. I may just end up writing some more
though, so my "What I Did" post on Saturday may still be
Because I have been taking a break from
crocheting this week, I do not have any crochet WIPs. I do, however,
have some writing WIPs that I am working on.
Currently, I am working on polishing up
"The Music Box" and "Pap" so that I can send them
out for publication hopefully sometime around September. I'm also
working on what will hopefully be the final whole story revision of
"Falling Up" (also known as "Mornington Pier"
for all you people who have been reading my stuff for years. Oh yes,
that dreaded story...) This will be the last time the entire
storyline will change, and I will be polishing it and sending it out
hopefully around Christmas.
Novel-wise, I am working on starting
drafts of the chapters of The Fire Child,
and I'm writing out brief outlines of the two sequels to The
Fire Child that do not have
names yet, and a book farther down the timeline that this series
takes place in that is called The Golden Child.
are my WIPs for the week. I'll be crocheting again soon. Just
needed a break because I was going color-blind from working on so
many different things.
I'm aiming towards a quiet week this
week. I have several crochet projects lined up, but I haven't even
started a foundation chain on them, so they can sit up there a bit
longer. I have enough items photographed to get me through listing
an item every day in my shop through July 31. And I still have a
large box in my bedroom of items to photograph. So, I'm not in a
rush to crochet more just yet. I may make some jewelry if the muse
calls me, but I really just want to focus on my writing this week.
I took a few days and really pushed
myself to start brainstorming and jotting down ideas again. And now,
the flood has begun. I got all my pieces printed off and organized
into binders, and I have been tossing out ideas since then. I'm
hoping to be able to start on outlines this week for a few of the
I'm going to also try to find two
literary magazines that I can send two short stories to for a chance
at publication. They are as finished as I can get them, so they need
to move along.
I still have several items that are
works in progress (WIPs).
My Coffee Granny Triangle Shawl has
been in timeout while I waited for the two more skeins that I needed
to finish it. They should be here tomorrow or the day after, so
hopefully, I'll get that finished this week (before Saturday).
The Fantasm Shawl in Turmeric is coming
along nicely. I'm hoping to have it done by Saturday as well, but it
may end up being a WIP for next week as well. It's a more
complicated pattern, so I can only work on it when all the kids are
entertained or when they are sleeping (that means not very often).
And my Tetris Blanket is coming along
nicely. The purple is completely done. I'll have all the yellows
done soon. I'm waiting on the green, red, orange, black, and the
rest of the blue to arrive. I apparently need to order another skein
of grey. I was one block away from being done with the grey. I hate
it when that happens.
Those are my current WIPs. I have some
smaller projects too, but they'll be done by the end of the day, so
no point in calling them WIPs.
